This limited-time opportunity to claim Rayman Origins is part of an ongoing celebration for the 35th anniversary of Ubisoft. An entry-level graphics card should suffice for most gaming machines as the 2D platformer only requires a minimum of 128 MB of memory. Since the title was released over a decade ago, the system requirements are quite low. Luckily, unlike many triple-AAA games on the market today, most gamers should have an easy time running Rayman Origins on their PCs. The game is available as a gift for all gamers to claim until December 22 at 9 am EST. It’s worth noting that this opportunity to grab one of the classic 2D platformers from the last decade won’t last long. All players need to do is visit the Ubisoft Store and claim the game at no charge. According to the company, Rayman Origins is available to claim for free now. In a December 14 tweet from Ubisoft, players learned of a new chance to grab this classic title from the Rayman series. While the popularity of the title spawned a 2013 sequel called Rayman Legends, many fans enjoyed returning to the 2011 platformer. Released in 2011, players controlled Rayman and his friends Globox and the two Teensies in an adventure that included optional local co-op. While not all of the company’s projects have been a success, Rayman Origins managed to stand out from among the crowd. Ubisoft has developed numerous titles over the years. Recently, video game developer Ubisoft jumped in on the action, revealing it had a special announcement regarding the 2D platformer Rayman Origins just in time for the holiday season. From first looks at upcoming projects during The Game Awards to new game releases, it's an exciting time to be a gamer. It's worth noting that the employee group ABetterUbisoft launched a petition last month seeking public support for their demands for reform at the company, following allegations of widespread harassment and discrimination. The end of the year is typically a busy time for the video game industry, and 2021 appears to be no different. Ubisoft's anniversary celebrations also included announcements of new Assassin's Creed crossover missions, as well as a date for Valhalla's Dawn Of Ragnarok expansion. In his 2012 Rayman Oranges review, Alex said: "It is, especially in its initial zones, a purely joyful experience, showering its player with visual and interactive gifts like a weirdo French Santa." We reckon it's one of the best platform games on PC, and I'd argue that it's only bested by its follow-up, Rayman Legends. If you haven't played it, Origins is a superbly fun platformer where Rayman and his pals have to save a load of Electoons. You can download your copy for free on Ubisoft Connect, and you have until Wednesday, December 22nd at 9pm (whatever your local time is) to do so. It's one of the best co-op games I've played, so it's a perfectly timed freebie if you're in need of something to keep friends and family entertained over the holiday period. Ubisoft are giving the 2D side-scroller away as part of their 35th anniversary celebrations, which is wonderful news. One of my absolute favourite platformers, Rayman Origins, is free to keep on Ubisoft Connect right now.
